Match Report: Empress Quokkas CC v Pinnacle Hotel

Date: Sunday, 8th February 2026
Location:
W.J. Cox Oval
Time: 1.30p.m. start
Captain: Dusty

Conditions

32 degrees with a threat of a storm which never really occurred – the pitch was the greenest part of the ground with the surrounding outfield extremely dry. A fast outfield for sure.

Fielding

An abnormal sighting for the quokkas with 14 team members arriving at the ground, allowing plenty of players to get a chance to have a drink during the warm day.

Big thanks to the Happiest Animals for our turn out Sunday 18/01 to play Pub Cricket in a balmy 30 degrees with the Rainbow Trash Pandas 🐼. What a day out!

As hosts, the quokkkas put on a feast fit for the occasion. Big thanks to Rev and Amy - many happy tums. All agreed that it was good to eat.

The Quashes 2025

Date: Sunday, November 30, 2025
Location:
Princes Park, Carlton
Time: 1 p.m. start
Captain: Rev

I normally write these as close to the end of the match that time allows, ensuring that my memory of the game and how it transpired are relatively fresh in my mind.

Unfortunately (?), Christmas and a much-needed break intervened and so most of my memories of this are a bit of a blur. So, apologies.

Match Report: Empress Quokkas CC v Curtin

Date: Sunday, December 14, 2025 Location: W.J. Cox Oval
Time: 1.30p.m. start
Captain: Prez

It was touch and go start to the game with the Quokkas struggling to pull numbers together to get the game going. Ami had a big night, Nathan was missed, and we had Geelong Gareth filling in with a bit of a drive on his hands. I received advice to ’elect to bat’ if we get the choice to give our team ample time. Alas, the Curtin were in a worse state than us with their skipper Brandon letting me know that they were slowly pulling in. They started with their batting innings and were generous to assist us with an 11th fielder.

Match Report: Empress Quokkas CC v Nomads

Date: Sunday, November 30, 2025
Location:
Fairfield Park Oval
Time: 1.30p.m. start
Captain: F1

Conditions

Five Sundays in a row that the day did not feature a lot of sun. It rained on the morning of the game with threats of further rain during the day. This reduced the match down to a 21 over game!

Fielding

After losing a couple of key Quokkas, we managed to recruit the nemesis of the Nomads – Brendan O’Sullivan who the previous week had smashed a score in the 30s in under 20 deliveries! This may have helped push us to win against the always formidable Nomads.
