Quokkas CC 206-2 (Irfan 114 no, Faggie 72 no) beat Salix CC 204-6 (Jez 2-14, Tom 2-20, Irfan 1-23)
This is another game I missed I’m afraid. The fact we won is evidence of that. Having rid himself the skipper curse, Faggie seems to have got the hang of it now. I am guessing he was the skipper for this one, as bowlers were taken off and then brought back on later. Typical Aussie, doing things to actually win games.
Jes and Marcus opened the bowling. It was slow going at first, but Jez did make a breakthrough. Further wickets were hard to come by, and a 77 partnership helped our hosts make steady progress. Time for a change. Although Faggie and Evil kept things pretty tight, it was the Yak that got the all-important wickets of the opener (who scored 75) and number 3 batter. Irfan than grabbed one, Jez a second and Marcus the sixth and final wicket. This steady flow of wickets helped stifle Salix and ensure our target was gettable.
Salix don’t do teas. This is not the reason for my unavailability, or Skips. With Hulk Hogen passing, the current state of World Wrestling was discussed, briefly, I hope. Then it was onto egg chasing, as the Lions were down under. I know nothing about the game, but picking a load of southern hemisphere players seems to have paid dividends. I digress.
It’s probably about time I gave some love in a match report to The Pirate, aka Irfan, who averages about 300 and scored yet another unbeaten hundred in this game. A majestic display or stroke play and dismissive hitting. If I am to be ever so slightly critical, he has to date failed to beat Faggie’s top score of 124, but I’ll let him off, for now. Faggie was also in the runs in this game, scoring an unbeaten 72, and dispatching all bowlers to all parts. I could fully understand if either needed to regrip their bats Paolo (Ed: see Tour de Brum match report). Having been set 205 to win, the Quokkas got them with eight wickets to spare. What a fantastic performance.
Well done chaps.
