Harpenden Dolphins CC 94–0 beat Quokkas 93 all out (Ali 37, Faggie 23)

This is usually the time where describe all the exciting activities I have done over the winter to pad out the first match report of the season. Unfortunately, I’d have to be Jonny Kim to have enough things to write about to counterbalance what will be a very brief description of the events of Sunday. Let me cut to the chase. The Quokkas got thumped and I failed to even make it to the ground. So, I will keep things brief, very much in line with the time it took to complete this game

It’s a fair old trek from the People’s Republic of Southsea to Harpenden. I was about half way there when I got a call from Mrs Seagull to say she had locked herself out, forcing me to turn around and subsequently miss the game. Driver filled in for me at very last minute. I noticed that he faced three balls without losing his wicket, so it was an upgrade. Sadly, only three Quokka innings lasted more than ten deliveries. Irfan, Ali, and Faggie. Our grand total of 93 all out consumed just 21 overs. I’m not sure if there was any tea or what was discussed during the interval. I won’t waste our time by speculating. Our opponents knocked the runs off in less than 10 overs, 9.4 to be precise. So, it was not the most audacious of starts to the season. Perhaps the less said about this game the better.

Seagull.

The winter of discontent continues…
