The Big Picture
…And so we come to the last YPCA regular-season game of what has felt like a very busy season. A look back at the stats shows that we haven’t played that many matches; we’ve had one rained off and one interrupted by rain.
That being said, we’ve travelled to Harrow, played in a YPCA 10-over thing, enjoyed the Bat Bar, and had a few ripper training sessions too.
The Nomads are a seasoned Pub League side, so a seasoned Captain is needed. Unfortunately the world of Tintin is made up, so we’ve gone with the next best Captain available; Local.
Blistering barnacles indeed.
It should be a good bit of fun.
Pitch and Conditions
We finish off the YPCA regular season at that blessed sanctuary of Fairfield Oval. Where protection from the sun cannot be found under the Perspex, or your car.
It’s looking like a lovely Melbourne day with a top of 22, and the chance of a small shower in the morning, so it could offer the first fielding team (the Nomads) a bit of swing and the first batting team (us) a soft outfield. Huzzah.

Facts and Stats
OK, I’ve been a little remiss in this area for a while, so brace yourself – here come some stats:
- F1 has ticked over the 300-YPCA-run mark (307), congrats to the newly wed for that and for that only.
The big man is not out for a third of his innings, and has an average of 25.58 with 37 fours and 3 sixes. Awesome. - Speaking of milestones, Fargo poached his 10th career wicket this season (against The Railway). He’s knocking them over at an average of 31.5. Despite claiming to never have hit a 6 before the last game, he has hit 3.
- Steph has reached half that number of wickets (5), but done it in only 6 games (Fargo has 18 YPCA games). The black widow continues to strike and has a healthy average of 26.6.
- Sizzle has been on absolute fire this season and is on the verge of 300 YPCA runs (currently 292), with his career average shooting up to 16.22. There will be more on his career batting average by year later.
- Jordan absolutely dominated the YPCA ladies game. Not a stat but a FACT.
- Dusty’s batting average for this season has ballooned out to 12.67, which is almost double his career average of 6.36. Well done to the man in tight trackies.
