The Big Picture
It’s already been a busy summer, with 3 YPCA games and a tour match (including a win!), so we go into this Sundays final YPCA game for 2025 with one eye firmly on the reclining sofa and thoughts focussed on the big mid-season training camp at the Bat Bar to come.

Conditions
Five Sundays in a row that the day did not feature a lot of sun. It rained on the morning of the game with threats of further rain during the day. This reduced the match down to a 21 over game!
Fielding
After losing a couple of key Quokkas, we managed to recruit the nemesis of the Nomads – Brendan O’Sullivan who the previous week had smashed a score in the 30s in under 20 deliveries! This may have helped push us to win against the always formidable Nomads.
It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of our friend and fellow Quokka, Derek ‘Zoolander’ Bradley. As I’m sure everyone who knew him would agree, Zoo was a wonderful man, and he will be deeply missed by us all. If you ever met him, you’ll know how effortlessly he could take you from being a stranger to feeling as though you’d known him your entire life—often in a matter of seconds.Match Preview: Empress Quokkas CC v The Nomads

The Big Picture
The Quokkas are coming off a win. That’s right, an actual win where they scored more than the other team in allotted overs and batters. I’m pretty sure that’s how this work, though it has been a while.
We come up against our old friends The Nomads again, who we actually managed a victory against in the none-too-distant past. That victory was even more surprising than our win last week given that we hadn’t got close to beating The Nomads in 15 years of pub competition to that point.
