Date: Saturday, December 27, 2025
Location:
Princes Park, Carlton
Time: 1pm

The Big Picture

Wowsers, this is the big one. The Aussie v UK Quokkas match up that has been in the making for about 16 years since the antipodean branch of the club started up.

For those unfamiliar with the history of the club, it all started in about 2003 while I was pretending to work in financial services in London and noticed an ad for an indoor cricket competition.

The Big Picture

It’s already been a busy summer, with 3 YPCA games and a tour match (including a win!), so we go into this Sundays final YPCA game for 2025 with one eye firmly on the reclining sofa and thoughts focussed on the big mid-season training camp at the Bat Bar to come.

Match Preview: Empress Quokkas CC v The Nomads

Date: Sunday, November 30, 2025
Location:
Fairfield Park Oval
Time: 1.30 p.m. start
Captain: F1

The Big Picture

The Quokkas are coming off a win. That’s right, an actual win where they scored more than the other team in allotted overs and batters. I’m pretty sure that’s how this work, though it has been a while.

We come up against our old friends The Nomads again, who we actually managed a victory against in the none-too-distant past. That victory was even more surprising than our win last week given that we hadn’t got close to beating The Nomads in 15 years of pub competition to that point.

Match Preview: Empress Quokkas CC v The Rose Hotel

Date: Sunday, November 23, 2025
Location:
W.J. Cox Oval, Fairfield
Time: 1 p.m. start
Captain: Radar

The Big Picture

After a great weekend in Walhalla, the Empress Quokkas return enthusiastically to the YPCA and our old friends at The Rose Hote.

One of the founding members of the YPCA, we have played them intermittently through the years with some notable matches. These have included the debut of F1 (Quokka #111) and TBC (#112) in the same game!

Match Preview: Quokkas CC v Blackridge CC

The Big Picture

Walhalla is not widely known outside of Victoria, but those that know it are inevitably aware of the mystery that is synonymous with the place.

Not only does it share a name that has a verisimilitude to Valhalla, but it is also supposed to be the most haunted place in the State.

The Cricket Ground in the town also carries a sense of intrigue, having had the MCC (including Warwick Armstrong) play on it and being located on top of a mountain that is only accessible by foot / sherpa.
